About Treasure’s Academy
Treasure's Academy is a vibrant early learning center that serves children 6 weeks to 12 years. We are a unique facility that offers an Eco-healthy environment. We serve organic/whole foods and make a conscious effort to respect our earth.  Proudly, we are the first and only Green, Eco-Healthy, and Organic early learning center in the Chattanooga/North Georgia area. Our mission is to nurture each child we serve through our fresh learning environment. Our philosophy focuses on providing a delicate balance of play, carefully designed lesson plans, socialization opportunities, and fun, age-appropriate fitness.

Maybe you have noticed some activity going on in the Woodstation Community where the old Kid Station daycare used to be?
We hope you have! We have been working very hard to create the kind of fun and inviting place where your children will want to spend time.  The adventurous, nautical theme featuring pirates and mermaids, is presented to encourage fun and inspire children to explore and play in this ECO-healthy atmosphere.

Who we are, what we do, and why we do it?
Hi, I’m Connie Hobbs and the proud owner of Treasure’s Academy.  Treasure’s was created from my dream of being able to spend more time with my own grandchildren before reaching retirement age, while still earning an income.   I have spent the past 30 years in the Corporate World but realized with the birth of my first grandchild, Vera, that my heart was really in just loving children.  I am the mother of three grown children and “Nonie” of 4 ½ currently.

I noticed that I was the absolute happiest when I could be with the children in my life.  I also began listening to young parents who were constantly dissatisfied with the quality of care their children received, considering the high price they paid for childcare.   A few unusual turn of events, coupled with the marriage of my youngest child to the son of an experienced pre-school director, led to the year-long process of making my dream a reality.

Susan Brown, the mother-in-law of my daughter, had been in the childcare industry for many years.  She enjoyed the rewards of making a difference in the lives of children, but longed to provide a much higher quality care.  Susan is the mother of two grown sons, and “Mimi” to Noah and Kaylee who are both 6.  Susan and I clicked right away and immediately began planning our dream of creating the ultimate in childcare services, which evolved into Treasure’s Academy.

As an additional bonus, we can now look forward to sharing a grandbaby at Treasure’s Academy.  In a few short months Connor will join us!  Conner is Jillian’s first child, but he will join his half-sister Kaylee and daddy Adam to round out their happy family.  Fortunately, Jillian is joining us and using her business management education to assist us in making Treasure’s Academy what parents have been searching for in the care of their most special Treasure.

“Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” – John W. Whitehead

Treasure’s Academy at Woodstation is a new concept in Early Learning for our area.  The first to be certified Eco-Healthy, the first to be all Natural and Green, and the first to provide Organic-Whole foods to our children.  We are raising the bar for what is considered Quality Care for our children.
We have based our foundation on research that suggests a child’s learning pattern and brain development is mostly formed by age 5.  In order to strengthen the chance that their capacity is reached, infants and toddlers need a vast array of experiences with a delicate balance of stimuli, encouragement, and nurturing.  We embrace the opportunity to provide the needed atmosphere for those exciting growth patterns to emerge and become the platform for a lifetime of success.
Our strategy involves each dimension of the whole child, beginning with their surroundings.  Providing a Natural Green Eco environment is crucial to the health and wellbeing of our children.  We maintain our facility to minimize lead hazards, moisture, and low VOC.  We use non-toxic techniques inside and out to prevent pests and control weeds, and we use natural, non-toxic cleaning products.   Monitoring ventilation, growing plants to clean the air, prohibiting aerosol sprays, scented candles, and air fresheners, and maintaining a tobacco free campus allows us to have the safest indoor air quality available.  We consistently assess our learning center for pollutants that could aggravate the sensitive respiratory system of our babies.  We are the only certified Eco-Healthy childcare facility in more than 100 miles.
It is also important to protect children from chemicals and toxins in their food by providing Organic Whole foods for their nutrition. We buy local fresh Organic produce or actually grow our own on our vast 4 acre campus. We take pride in our garden and encourage our children to become gardeners as well.  Our chef strives to create “kid friendly” dishes to satisfy the appetites and nourish growth, while protecting health.  “Good healthy food is only beneficial if the children will eat it,” is our kitchen platform.
To round out our whole child approach, we provide scheduled physical fitness activities as in “kid yoga” and fun, but structured routines multiple times each week.  Our philosophy is a mix of learning while playing, physical activity, resting, and then repeat.  Our facility is equipped with a large climate controlled indoor gym for needed movement when the weather prevents outdoor fun.  Treasure’s children rotate to our specialty rooms to experience our Music Studio where they learn hands on about all sorts of instruments and music.  We explore dinosaurs and dig for fossils, learn about growing organic fruits and vegetables, and develop fine motor skills by enjoying an array of sensory activities in our Science and Discovery Lab.  The importance of reading and imagination is learned as we enjoy stories in our Dr. Seuss Reading Room.  An introduction to fine arts is established as we perform puppet shows, or take the stage in a live performance wearing costumes we created, or maybe just create our own masterpiece on canvas in our beautiful Art Studio.  We believe this rotating schedule prevents boredom and takes advantage of shorter attention spans, allowing more to be accomplished, while also preparing for school routines.  Balance and moderation in all things is the key for happy and healthy children.

Our inspiration for being green and eco friendly

An old Native American adage says, “We did not inherit the Earth from our parents, we are borrowing it from our children.”  When we borrow something, it is to be returned at least as good as we found it, but better if possible.  Our goal is to do all we can to make our Earth better than we found it.  We do that by being conscientious of our natural resources and conserving our water, recycling what we can, using less when we can, and teaching our children by our example.  At Treasure’s Academy we encourage using a reusable cloth diapering method.  Bottoms Up, our diaper service company, has created our own version of an adjustable snap-closure reusable diaper that is not only more comfortable for your baby, but is better for our earth.  This organic cloth diaper bears a tiny version of our logo, is made from the softest natural fabrics we can find, and comes in 4 sizes.  It allows us to do our part in the battle to protect our planet.
Treasure’s Academy maintains teacher child ratios much lower than state requirements to ensure that your child receives excellence in every aspect of our offerings.  We use curriculum focused on learning needed skills, by using fun activities, creativity, self-confidence, social development, and southern genteel manners from our heritage.  While it is imperative that children are ready for kindergarten, we maintain that it is just as imperative that young children experience the one on one love and nurturing needed for developing emotionally.  Our dedicated staff of mature and qualified teachers have no greater ambition than to provide all that our children need to flourish.  A delicate balance of caring, learning, and having fun is Treasure’s Academy.  Enriching our planet, one child at a time.

This verse from Deuteronomy was the inspiration for the name chosen.  The apostrophe S puts the emphasis on the child as the Treasure.  Therefore this is the Academy of your child who is a Treasure.
 PRICING
Everyone is interested in pricing, and for good cause.  We all live on a budget and childcare is a large expense for families.  We are aware that there is a lot of speculation about what we are doing since we are the “new kid on the block”.  We know that a lot of families were sorely inconvenienced when the previous center closed their doors.  Treasure’s Academy is not affiliated with “Kid Station” in any way.
Although we certainly do offer much more than you can find at any other childcare center in our area, rest assured that we are still priced competitively.
We are happy to provide a price list for you upon your tour of our facility.  We will begin scheduling tours next Monday, June 8.  Please call Jillian Brown at (706) WeLoves (935-6837) to schedule your tour.

WHEN ARE WE OPENING?
We can only say that it cannot be soon enough for us!  We have spent the last 5 weeks renovating our campus so that we may serve you better.  It is coming together nicely!  It feels really good to actually see all the plans that were just in our head a few months ago.  Our goal is to have that complete by June 14.  We are waiting for inspection and licensing from the state of GA as well.  We will keep you updated on our progress.
